December 19 -- Regular Sale

An active to steady go in the cow market for this week. There is more money in the
weigh cows but many old, thin cows in offering, a little short on the better kind of cows.

Feeding Cows: $36 to $54 Full & Low Yielding Cows: $30 to $34
High Yielding Cows: $34 to $41 Heiferettes: $45 to $72 (lite test)
Bulls: $40 to $47

December 12 -- Special Bred Female & Regular Sale

Another high quality offering of bred females, the market strong throughout. Good buyer
participation on bred females. Overall a solid event with weighups selling on active to steady go. The feeding cow market was higher as well.

Feeding Cows: $35 to $54 Full & Low Yielding Cows: $30 to $35
High Yielding Cows: $33 to $39 Heiferettes: $52 to $74
Bulls: $40 to $50

December 5 -- Special Spring Calf Sale

Another high quality offering of replacements. Condition on heavy calves factored to price.
Overall a higher and active trade with cattle going to a wide area.

November 21 -- Special Bred Female Sale

We had a big run of cows on an active to higher market. Bred females sold steady to higher.
Overall, a good crowd on hand to take this offering of mostly short term cows.

High Yielding Cows: $34 to $40 Heiferettes: $45 to $72.50
Bulls: $37 to $47 Open Heifers: $65 to $80

 

November 14 -- Special Calf Sale

A nice offering of calves, weaned and preconditioned. Overall, a good crowd of buyers
with weaned seeing good demand.

November 11 -- Regular Monday Sale

A regular sale with over 500 cows, feeding cows and bulls. We called the market steady to
lower on slaughter cattle with feeding cows steady to strong.

Feeding Cows: $37 to $55 Full & Low Yielding Cows: $29 to $34
High Yielding Cows: $33 to $37 Heiferettes: $41 to $67.50
Bulls: $29 to $34

 

A big improvement in weather, subsequently buyer participation was excellent. Light calves sold steady to higher along with 5wts. The 6wt. steers sold steady to weak with heifers steady to higher.

November 4 -- Bred Females and Regular Monday Sale

A small turnout of buyers but active on short term and middle aged cows. A limited
offering of young cows. Quality in numbers was absent from the offering.

Feeding Cows: $35 to $44 Full & Low Yielding Cows: $30 to $34
High Yielding Cows: $34 to $39 Heiferettes: $44 to $69
Bulls: $38 to $48

 

October 28 -- Regular Monday Sale

On our Regular Sale, a good run of cows on a n active trade. Slaughter cows were steady to lower instnaces steady with feeding cows and young cows and young cows steady to higher.

High Yielding Cows: $34 to $38 Heiferettes: $48 to $69
Bulls: $40 to $49

October 31 -- Special Spring Calf Sale


Well, we had a big taste of winter and hopefully it will not last. Our run was 2/3 of
expectation, with a big turnout of buyers. th eweaned calves were well received if not
full or over conditioned. Overall on the bawling calves the market was steady to mostly lower.

October 24 -- Special Spring Calf Sale

Another big, high quality offering. Considerable variance in quality yet demand soft compared
to last week. Market $1 to $2 lower on 5wt. steers and steady on big calves.

October 21 -- Regular Monday Sale & Special Bred Female Sale

A big run of cows, over 1100 weighups. Considering the demand for younger rebred and feeding cows the market active to strong. Surprisingly we see a steady and active trade on slaughter cows for this time of the year. The better bred females were the older (BM or SS)kind not many young cows available to give a good market test.

High Yielding Cows: $34 to $39 Heiferettes: $45 to $63
Bulls: $41 to $47 (limited test)

 

October 17 -- Special Calf Sale

Another strong offering of calves. Condition, on some calves made for better
price discovery. Again consignors putting forth the effort in genetics were rewarded.

October 14 -- Regular Monday Sale & Special Yearling Sale

A big run of yearlings (over 3000) quality was excellent, condition good. Buyers
were willing to step up and pay for the good ones. Cow market was active to
higher with renewed interest on the younger, better cows.

High Yielding Cows: $35 to $41 Heiferettes: $44 to $67
Bulls: $40 to $49.50

 

October 10 -- Special Spring Calf

Really like the energy generated at this auction. The quality of our black hided and char-x calves was excellent which enhanced buyer participation. Light calves are better received and higher, Overall, good buyer attendance and stronger to the end.

September 19-- Regular Monday Sale

A good size run of cows on our first regular sale on Mondays. Market was active
but lower than 2 1/2 weeks ago. A good portion of the run was.

High Yielding Cows: $36 to $40 Heiferettes: $45 to $68
Bulls: $40 to $48.50

October 3-- Special Spring Calf

Without question, probably as strong an offering of high growth, genetically
improved, properly vaccinated calves. Many buyers in attendance and
willing to participate but conservative in the approach.

September 26 -- Special Spring Calf & Yearling Sale

Another good run of yearlings with the market strong to active.
Calves were well received for the limited offering.

September 19-- Special Bred Female Sale

Feeding Cows: $36 to $46 Full & Low Yielding Cows: $32 to $36
High Yielding Cows: $34 o $41 Heiferettes: $46 to $70
Bulls: $41 to $52

September 12 -- Special Yearling & Spring Calf Sale

A good general rain sure can pick up everyone's spirits. A big crowd on hand,
yearling demand was excellent and calf demand good.

September 5 -- Special Yearling Sale

A quality offering of yearlings selling to an agressive buying crowd.

August 29-- Regular Sale

An active market on cows but steady to lower prices.
Exposed cows were active, a lot of interst on bred females.

August 22 -- Special Fall Calf & Yearling Sale

A good run of yearlings, the market very active with good buyer attendance.

August 8-- Special Spring Calf, Fall Calf & Yearling Sale

Our largest offering of feeders ever at the Valentine Livestock Auction. Quality was tremendous, the market was strong and stayed strong all day. Complements to our consignors for a quality product. A big thank you to our crew for doing a great job and they really don't mind the rain.

August 1 -- Special Bred Female & Pair Sale

A big run of bred females, few pairs and more weighups. Active trade on high quality cows, slow on average to low end and lower cow market.

Feeding Cows: $37 to $50 Full & Low Yielding Cows: $31 to $36
High Yielding Cows: $35 to $40 Heiferettes: no test to few
Bulls: $43 to $54

 

July 25 -- Special Fall Calf & Yearling Sale

A nice run of fall calves, quality was inconsistent, buyer participation less than previous sale. Yearlings sold to a more conservative public than a week ago yet in places the market was steady!

July 17/18 -- Special Two Day BBQ Fall Calf & Yearling Sale

Another run of high quality feeders available. Many fall calves with condition and some not. Overall, an active buying crowd and a snappy auction on Wednesday. The yearling offering was strong on quality, buyer activity was aggressive. Again, an excellent offering.

July 12 -- Special Fall Bred & Pairs

Another quality offering of bred females and a few pairs. Buyer attendance was good and the bred females were well received. A light run of weigh ups on a lower market. Bulls were lower to steady.

June 27 -- Regular Sale

A big run of weighups and a high quality offering of fall bred females. The numbers of slaughter animals are high, not helping price. Active trade on the bred females.

June 20 -- Special Feeder Sale

A big crowd on hand with good activity on all classes of feeders.
Overall, good cattle sell at higher levels.

June 13 -- Regular Sale

A big run of cows on a steady market. Young feeding cows were lower along with heiferettes. Bulls were steady to lower.

May 30 -- Regular Sale

A large run of cows, many thin cows in the offering. The cooler weather conditions in May has affected the flesh of the cows and impacts price. Overall a lower market than two weeks ago, except bulls. Pairs were well received, considering overall market condition.

High Yielding Cows: $39 to $44 Heiferettes: $50 to $64
Bulls: $47 to $59

 

May 16 -- Regular Sale

A light run of weigh-ups on an active market, low end cows were steady to strong,
whereas feeding cows were steady to weak.

High Yielding Cows: $39 o $44 Heiferettes: $45 to $60
Bulls: $47 to $59

 

May 9 -- Regular, Spring Pair & Fall Bred Sale

A small offering of bred females and pairs on an active yet more conservative market than a month and two months ago. On Friday, May 10, Kenner's offered a quality offering of colts, twos, and older quarter horses. A good crowd on hand for this event. There will be a complete report in next week's Advertiser.

April 25 -- Regular Sale & All Breeds Bull Sale

A big turnout of cows & bulls for our special All Breeds Bull Sale. Quality was excellent and we ended up with over 120 breeding bulls and over 700 weigh cattle. Weigh market was active with the bulk of the offering mostly thin aged cows. Breeding bulls demand good to excellent.

April 11-- Regular Sale & Special Feeder Sale

We had a smaller run of feeders and replacement heifers considering the market conditions, good buyer attendance, and participation. Market is lower on replacements and cows.

Young Black Cows: $42 to $56 Heiferettes: $50 to $72.50

April 4-- Regular Sale

A big run of cows selling on an active market, slaughter cows are higher especially low end cows.

Young Black Hided Young Cows: $44 to $55 Heiferettes: $52 to $71.50
High Yielding Cows: $41 to $48 Bulls: $47 to $59

March 28-- Special Feeder Sale

A small supply of feeders with the bulk being heifers. Replacement heifer market was active to strong and a good go on steers. Just a good turnout of buyers for this special.

March 21-- Regular Sale

We postponed our special feeder sale until March 28, but went ahead with a regular sale.
Cow market was lower on low end cows and steady on feeding, breeding and heiferettes.

Black Hided Young Cows: $41 to $55 Heiferettes: $55 to $75
High Yielding Cows: $39 to $43 (light test) Bulls: 45 to $58.50

March 16-- Special Bred Female & Regular Sale

Weather postponed special, had a good turn out of buyers. The weighup market was active to
higher on young feeder cows. Low end steady. Fall pairs were thin with many people after them.

March 7-- Special Feeder Sale

A good offering of high quality big & light steers selling on an upbeat market.
Heifers were in short supply, selling at higher levels on the big heifers

February 28-- Regular Sale

A small run of weigh ups selling on an aggressive market. Packers are short on supply and the spring snow storms impacted the market to the good.

February 21-- Special Feeder Sale

A small run of feeders. Quality was unseen with price pressure on big/fleshes replacements.
Buyer interest was good but most were trying to buy at lower prices.

February 14-- Special Bred Female & Regular Sale

A large run of high quality bred females with a big turnout of buyers.
The market was active but not as strong as our January sale.

February 7-- Special Feeder Sale

A good offering of front end grass replacements. Market was strong
with prices paid at higher levels then previous sales.

January 24-- Special Feeder Sale

An active trade on all classes, quality variances were wide on steers from
575 to 700 lb, we are seeing more flesh than usual.

January 21-- Regular Sale

  Market was higher on all classes

January 17-- Special Bred Female & Regular Sale

   A big crowd on hand to see a high quality line-up of female replacements. Most of the bred heifers were home raised, right off the top. An active sale all the way through.

January 10-- Special Feeder & Regular Sale

    Many Consignors in small groups with excellent quality. Market strong on green cattle, softer on big calves. Overall an active market.

January 3-- Special Feeder & Regular Sale

    A nice run of replacements, quality varied throughout the sale along with flesh.
No doubt, too man calves are packing extra flesh, thus affecting price paid.
